CURRICULUM VITAE of Varvara Vedenina
1982-1987 - student of the Biological Faculty of the Moscow State University, Department of Entomology. The fourth-year-study work under the supervision of Prof. Rustem D. Zhantiev on the topic: "Recognition of acoustic signals in sympatric species of grasshoppers". Diploma work under the supervision of Dr. Galina I. Rozhkova on the topic: "Morphophysiological characteristics of cercal interneurons in crickets".
1987 - present time - junior, since 2000 senior researcher in the Laboratory of Sensory Information Processing at the Institute for Information Transmission Problems, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow.
1994 - PhD Thesis under the supervision of Dr. Galina I. Rozhkova on the topic: "Directional characteristics of cricket cercal neurons".
1995-1996 - research visits to the Laboratory of Neurobiology, University of Ulm, Germany to conduct the joint project "Processing of wind and low-frequency sound signals in cricket cercal system" supported by Volkswagen-Stiftung, Hannover (Az.I/69 911). Project coordinator: Dr. Guenter Kaemper.
1995-1998 - the joint project "Taxonomy and bioacoustics of european grasshoppers, bushcrickets and crickets (Insecta, Orthoptera)" supported by INTAS- 94-2854. Project coordinator: Dr. Klaus-Gerhard Heller, Zoological Institute, University of Erlangen, Germany.
1998-2000 - research visits to the Institute for Neurobiology, Free University of Berlin to conduct the study on the topic: "Allatostatin-like immunocytochemistry in the nervous system of the crickets and locusts" supported b DFG. Project coordinator: Prof. Hans-Joachim Pflueger.
1999 - research at the Zoological Institute, University of Erlangen, Germany, on problem “The function of courtship in grasshoppers of the Chorthippus albomarginatus-group (Orthoptera: Gomphocerinae)” supported by DAAD (KZ: A9909793 Ref. 325). Project coordinator: Prof. Dr. Otto von Helversen.
2000 - research at the Institute for Zoology and Anthropology, Goettingen University, Germany, on problem "Pharmacological activation of stridulatory behaviour in grasshoppers Chorthippus albomarginatus and Ch. oschei (Acrididae: Gomphocerinae)" supported by DFG.
